The WHO is reporting that antibiotic-evading superbugs are continuing to strengthen and proliferate across the globe (also covered here and here).

The result of this spreading threat is that in many cases, many common yet important drugs no longer possess the same effectiveness they once did. In certain regions, hospital-acquired infections caused by the bacteria K. pneumoniae (which causes pneumonia and blood infections among others) are not treatable in half of individuals experiencing the problems propranolol pills 10mg.

The WHO findings are strongly supported by Jennifer Cohn of Médecins Sans Frontières.

“We see horrendous rates of antibiotic resistance wherever we look in our field operations, including children admitted to nutritional centres in Niger, and people in our surgical and trauma units in Syria,” she said.
